Happy New Month! I hope your day was fab? Mine was quite stressful but I bless God all the same.
 Welcome to another Girlschat Series and if you're just joining us for the first time, it's better late than neverπŸ˜‰ catch up on the previous topics by searching for "GirlSChat Series". So today I thought we should take a break from boy-talk and actually talk about ourselves, something that will benefit us and our bodies and something that we all love-Food.

Having said that, I have a very interesting topic for discussion next week God's willing, you really don't want to miss itπŸ˜‰

Now as young Ladies/Women we need to actually eat foods that will help develop our bodies and protect us from the different kinds of diseases that women are prone to; cancer, fibrous, heart diseases, to mention but few. Some of us claim to eat healthy but In reality, we are just shoving down things that will only do more harm than good to our system.
I know I'm no doctor but I was able to do some research work and in this Post, I have put togther five (5) Power Foods that you need to include in your diet.

  • Whole Grain Pasta: This is Filled with a large amount of Vitamin B which helps to convert food to energy. As we go about with our daily activities, juggling from one place to another, we need all the energy we can get to enable us function well and achieve our daily purposes and goals.

  • Potatoes: They contain a fat-fighting Compound which is called "resistant starch" that can help you keep your weight in check. So in otherwords, you can eat freely without having to worry about gaining unnecessary weight. Awesome stuff! Its a win-win situation. They aslo help to fight heart diseases by keeping blood pressure low.

  • Low Fat Yoghurt: Experts are of the opinion that any fermented diary product contains healthy bacteria which help to protect you from diseases. They also say that these diary products help in reducing the risk of breast cancer, stomach ulcers and vaginal infection. It has a high level of calcium which is a nutrient that every woman need a at every point in their lives. If you ask me, there was absolutely no need for this long story, I mean it's just YoghurtπŸ˜† Can i have a carton please?!

  • Beans: Beans are low in fat and as we have learned during our biology classes, they are a great source of protein which also have protective effects against heart diseases. They have something called "protease inhibitors" which guide against breast cancers. They lower cholesterol and help in stabilizing female hormones (PMS antidote!) The Problem with me and beans is that it gives me serious heart burn, but considering that the pros outweigh the cons, I might as well try harder with it.

  • Sardines (Fish): These are also good sources of protein as they contain omega 3 acids that decrease inflammation which could lead to blocked arteries. They also prevent blood clots that can cause heart attacks and strokes. I'm not a fan of fishes at all but I make exceptions with sardines, weird right? I also don't understand but as long as I know that it's doing me a lot of good, oh well.

There you have it guys. As you can see, I did my homework but, I know that we have experts amongst us that can further tell us more about what we should eat as women.
