With God our strength
Hello beautiful people,
How was your weekend, blissful I hope?
Mine was okay but a little depressing but I can tell you that the depression is long gone now.
I'm sure a lot of you heard or read that 3 girls were kidnapped/abducted from Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary a.k.a Bmjs which also happens to be my secondary school. When I heard at first, i was just shocked and confused,I got home to realize that my roomie was in a similar condition (yeah we went to the same secondary school and university,I don't know why that girl keeps stalking me :/ ) We just couldn't understand how and why these evil men decided to pick our school for their attack. In the whole of the 19 years since the school was founded, there was no such story as kidnapping and these were days when fences were present but not present if you know what I mean.
Now the school will be 20 this year, and that's when these human beings decided to strike you can just imagine their timing. During this period, I got to realize a few things ; Bmjs is more than just a school,Bmjs is a family. Someone put up a display picture on bbm relating to this and i felt really emotional, I mean what else do you expect from a group of people who grew up together, stayed together, prayed together, played together, sang together, stabbed prep, fellowship, assembly, etc together ( lol )for SIX good years! Some of the most wonderful individuals i have ever met in my life are friends from Bmjs. These are people who look out for you and have your back any day.
For those who dont know, Bmjs didn't accept transfer of students, so apart from people who left along the way, most people who were there were people you saw and related with from JSS1 to SS3. You see them at their best and worst moments, when they were still so dirty and couldn't 'chest', up until the moment when they had 'gators' on their shirts and trousers with this very funny walking posture they refer to as 'feeling'.
My point is the bond was and is still very strong. The unity, love and togetherness that was demonstrated by Bmjs students all over the country and outside this last week was overwhelmingly beautiful.
Did I tell you that Bmjs was also a praying school? Like we had this chaplain that was constantly on our case that whether by fire or by force, we must make heaven. In this trying time, we realized that we had nobody else to turn to except our father in heaven and that we did because we believed that this same God who was there when there was hardly any security will definitely help us find our girls.
I look back and just think about the fact that this God knows how he does his things. Bmjs was a school that had no form of advertisement, as in we were not popular at all to think that we have some of the smartest people I have ever seen in that school. Yes we are now in the news for something not so good but the most important thing is that OUR GIRLS ARE BACK! Anything could have happened to them but you know our God will never leave nor forsake his children.
This week was a rather tortuous one for the Bmjs family as we entered this battle against these evil people, we strived with our faith no matter how little it was and despite the bleak nature of things,we were not disouraged because we knew that at the end of the day our goal was that we were coming out triumphant with God our strength..
Have a lovely week ahead..xoxo
Dedicated to Deborah,Timilehin,Tofunmi and all past and present Bmjs students all over the world.
