The Monday Blues
Hey guys,
How was your weekend? Mine was too boring I tell you,you really don't want details because I'll only get more depressed remembering and as if thats not enough, it's MONDAY again!
Yesterday when I was thinking about what to write because I realized it was yet another Monday,I groaned inwardly but then I started to think of the different reasons why this hatred for Mondays is very deep and to think that it is actually a worldwide thing,a lot of people all over the world hate mondays and would do anything to avoid it but unfortunately or fortunately for us we have to face it.
Did you know that there was something called 'the Monday morning blues' it has to do with the feeling of depression and anxiety that can probably start on a Sunday night leading to an unproductive Monday.
I like to think that this hatred of Mondays actually started from when we were little.
As a kid,going to school on a Monday morning was one of the worst things ever(I dunno about you though).
One thing we have established now is that we hate to get up. Most people don't get enough sleep during the week so they make up for it during the weekend only for it to be cut short by the almighty Monday. Don't even get me started on the alarm clocks who do their work a little too effectively with that noise that comes out from them..oh that noise
Ever heard the term 'Humans are social animals'? Yeah we love to turn up! Fridays through Sundays are days we get to be in charge and throw caution to the wind without necessarily thinking about any rules or regulations as opposed to our work places or schools.There's a lot of drinking,smoking,partying and merrying In general during the weekend and of course what better way to incure a hangover that you wake up with on a Monday morning?
Now nobody is to blame here but because as humans we are always looking for someone or something to be responsible for our misfortunes, we dump it all on Mondays.
Over the weekend,we might have spent time with loved ones that probably made our weekend count and gave us the time of our lives, how do you then stand up and just walk away from that all because it's the freaking first day of the week?
Scientists also have their take on why Mondays are generally dreadful. They found out that people are generally less healthy on Mondays. They are of the opinion that people who generally maintain their weight weigh the most at the beginning of the week and that the most common days that people suffer strokes and heart attacks are Mondays.
Another thing they made mention of was that high blood pressure was a regular phenomena of a Monday morning. Way to go science!
My conclusion of this matter is that it's in your head and i won't tell you whether or not to love mondays because like it or not, it will always be what it is,people will always wonder why Fridays are so close to Mondays and why mondays are so far to Fridays and will forever blame whatever they conclude on. The only thing that can change is you..or your job.
You need to know that you are the only one that has the power to define what your mondays will look like no matter how torpid and gloomy you feel.
So are you going to mop around without a smile or are you going to make the best of today? It's entirely up to you.
